January 2007

Make 2007 A Truly New Year

T

hink about your typical morning. The alarm clock buzzes or rings or otherwise makes a commotion. That great dream you were having disappears with the realization you are awake and facing another day. It never seems like you get enough sleep anymore.

Are you excited about the possibilities of the day?

You start the coffee, get the paper, run the shower. You start thinking about all of the things you have to do during the day. That nagging client issue, the employee that you have to “have a talk with”, a “love note” from the IRS…all of those things that kept you awake last night.

Are you excited about the opportunities?

You arrive at work and the project that you know you need to complete but haven’t yet sits in a pile on the side of your desk. The day flies by, you move from one fire to the next and before you know it the day is over and you don’t seem to have gotten anything done.

Are you excited to be in business?

What was this morning like for you? Did you wake up with a sense of anticipation? Were you excited to start a new day of doing the things you love to do? Were you hardly able to wait until you talked to your first customer? Were you excited to get started?

Why not?

Every January we look at the year stretched out in front of us. We ask ourselves what the year will bring, how our lives and our work will turn out. Some of us make plans...strategic plans for the business, goals set for our lives. Others just make wishes...thinking of the things that should get done, but never committing them to writing or sharing it with anyone else.

Ask yourself, "What will be different for my business and for me this year?" What different things will you do, and how will you do them differently than in the past. Remember that when you always do what you always did, you always get what you always got! If you want the same results, keep doing the same things.

Have you considered working with a coach? My clients tell me that working with me helps them rekindle their excitement. Having a coach is much like having a private instructor, but it really is so much more...I believe coaching is also a talent and a gift. Good coaches have a knack for helping people become more of their authentic selves. They have a way of encouraging people to dig deep and realize more of their full potential than even they, themselves, thought possible. The ideal coaching client is focused on developing himself or herself to their highest potential and has already taken several steps to do just that. Now he or she wants to take life to the next level to achieve even more success.

If you are ready to make 2007 a truly new year, give me a call. Lets discuss ways of working together to take your life and your business to the next level. Isn't it time you got excited again?
